Overview

The Ciudad Satélite viewpoint looks out from the edge of the El Alto plateau, right where the city stops and the bowl of La Paz opens up, with snow-capped Illimani behind. It is one of the best panoramas of the whole conurbation and it is two minutes from Mirador station — which locals still call “Ciudad Satélite”, its former name — where the Yellow and Silver lines meet. The ride up on the Yellow Line from Sopocachi, climbing hundreds of metres, is half a viewpoint in itself.
