Overview

The Valle de la Luna is a maze of eroded clay spires and gullies about 10 km from the centre, in Mallasa, beyond the Zona Sur. Two signposted trails of 15 and 45 minutes run through it and there is an entrance fee at the gate. The cable car does not reach it: the closest station in service is Irpavi, the terminus of the Green Line, and from there you carry on by minibus or taxi for about 15-20 minutes along the Mallasa road. Even so, the cable car is the best way to cover the long stretch: the Green Line drops from the centre to the Zona Sur in 16 minutes with no traffic.
